IDF Kills Hamas Nukhba Commander Who Led Oct. 7 Raid on Sufa Outpost, Held Hostages

The IDF and Shin Bet said in a joint statement Thursday, September 4, 2026 that a strike in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza, killed Muhammad Mahmoud Marshad al-Qadi, a Hamas Nukhba Force company commander who led the October 7, 2023 raid on Israel's Sufa military outpost and afterward took part in holding Israeli hostages captive in the Rafah area. The agencies said al-Qadi had, in recent months, been training Hamas operatives and working to rebuild the organization's capabilities and to advance attacks on troops and Israeli civilians, in violation of the ceasefire. The strike is the latest in a string of IDF killings of October 7 perpetrators through 2026, including at Jabalia, Khan Younis and Rimal, as Israel continues targeting remaining Nukhba commanders identified from the attack.
