IDF Eliminates October 7 Attacker Khamis Muhammad Khamis Qassas Who Raided Kibbutz Nir Oz

On April 21, 2026 (Tuesday), IDF forces in southern Gaza identified and eliminated Khamis Muhammad Khamis Qassas, a Hamas terrorist who had directly participated in the October 7, 2023 assault on Kibbutz Nir Oz — one of the kibbutzim most severely hit, where ~40 residents were killed and ~79 taken hostage (25% of the entire community). Qassas was operating near the Yellow Line in southern Gaza when IDF troops identified him approaching in a manner that posed an imminent threat. The IDF confirmed the strike and identified him as a participant in the October 7 massacre. The killing continues a pattern of IDF targeted operations against individuals directly involved in the October 7 attack — eliminating operatives who remain active within Gaza under the October 10, 2025 ceasefire. The IDF states that targeting individuals who pose an active, identifiable threat remains permissible under the ceasefire framework. This is at least the fourth confirmed October 7 perpetrator killed by IDF targeted operations in 2026.
