APC Lagos Eti-Osa Primary Dispute: Supporters Protest Candidate Switch, Demand Tinubu Intervention
Supporters of incumbent Lagos State House of Assembly member Noheem Adams staged protests in Eti-Osa LGA on June 5, after the APC national list for the 2027 assembly elections named Saheed Bankole as the party's candidate despite Adams winning the primary vote by 7,638 to 1,225. Party stakeholders formally appealed to President Tinubu and APC national leadership to intervene and uphold the primary result. The dispute reflects broader tensions from the APC's national primary exercise in May 2026 — in which more than 70 sitting National Assembly members lost their seats — and the party's contested approach to candidate management in Lagos, Tinubu's political stronghold and base.
