President Bola Tinubu secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket for the 2027 general election on May 23 after a nationwide direct primary spanning all 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory, 774 local government areas, and 8,809 wards. Tinubu received approximately 10,915,665 votes from a pool of 12,643,316 registered APC members, with accreditation recorded at 11,069,746. His sole challenger, Stanley Osifo, recorded near-zero votes in virtually all states, making the outcome a near-unanimous endorsement of the incumbent president's second-term bid. In a victory speech delivered in Abuja, Tinubu pledged to consolidate the economic reforms of his first term — including fuel subsidy removal, naira unification, and banking sector recapitalization — and vowed to restore peace and security across the country.
