Poland steps up air-force activity after Mi-8 incursion and Russian strikes near its border

| NATO Airspace Incursions

Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said Poland is increasing the activity of its air forces, including F-16 fighters and helicopters, following the Sept 23 Russian Mi-8 helicopter crossing near Braniewo and Russian jet-drone strikes in western Ukraine close to the Polish border. Warsaw framed the steps as a response to Russian provocations and to warnings that Moscow may plan hybrid drone and missile strikes against states supporting Ukraine. A suspected Russian drone was also reported shot down over Romania on Sept 24.
