Moderna Science Day: Company Unveils In Vivo CAR-T and T-Cell Engager Programs, Pitches 'Multi-Modality' Pivot

At its June 25, 2026 Science Day, Moderna showcased an expanding mRNA pipeline reaching beyond vaccines into oncology, autoimmune disease, and rare conditions. The company introduced an in vivo CAR-T modality, mRNA-6007, entering early development for B-cell-mediated autoimmune diseases with an initial clinical focus on systemic lupus erythematosus; the multiplexed mRNA/lipid-nanoparticle approach aims to deliver transient CAR expression directly in vivo, avoiding the manufacturing complexity of ex vivo cell therapy. Moderna also highlighted validation of its T-cell engager modality via mRNA-2808 in multiple myeloma, supporting advancement of a second candidate, mRNA-2151, toward early development in ovarian cancer.
