The Fiscalía General de Justicia del Estado de México (FGJEM) announced April 25, 2026, that 20 priority targets detained in the State of Mexico under Operación Enjambre have been sentenced to a combined 1,146 years and six months in prison. The operation originated from the discovery of remains of 10 victims in wells in the municipality of Nicolás Romero — investigations identified municipal police officers' participation in these crimes, with organized crime links to CJNG and La Familia Michoacana. NOTABLE CONVICTIONS: Adrián Mauricio Sánchez Mitre, former Public Security Commissioner of Nicolás Romero, received a total of 190 years across two sentences — 40 years for homicide (January 29, 2026) and 150 years for express kidnapping for robbery and extortion (April 22, 2026). María Elena Martínez Robles, former municipal president of Amanalco, received 70 years for homicide.
