Analysts Push Back on "Muslim NATO" Framing

The Middle East Council on Global Affairs publishes an explainer arguing the pact is being widely mischaracterized: it is "not a sectarian coalition," "not intended to replace the United States or existing security arrangements," and "not a 'NATO in the Middle East' or 'Muslim NATO'" — noting that unlike NATO's Article 5, "collective solidarity does not necessarily mean that every attack automatically produces an identical military response."
