CFR: "US-Led Middle East Order Is Over"
Council on Foreign Relations analyst Steven Cook argues the pact proves "it is no longer possible to talk about a U.S.-led order in the Middle East," with regional powers now "shaping their own security order" rather than relying on Washington as guarantor. He attributes the shift to years of perceived US policy unpredictability and unreliability during regional crises, and warns of an emerging split between the Mecca-pact bloc and the US-aligned Abraham Accords bloc.
