IDF Kills 14-Year-Old Islam Ajjouri During Askar Refugee Camp Raid Near Nablus

| Israel-Palestine

On Sunday, August 23, 2026, Israeli forces shot 14-year-old Islam Ahmad Ajjouri in the chest during a military raid on the Askar refugee camp east of Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said he was evacuated in critical condition and later died of his wounds. Mohammed Abu Kashk, head of the Askar camp services committee, said the teenager was shot as Israeli forces were withdrawing from the camp, adding 'there were no clashes or confrontations that would justify shooting a child and killing him.' The Israeli military said it was reviewing the incident. The killing came two days after West Bank settlers shot dead a 17-year-old near Sa'ir and the IDF killed a retired PA colonel in a Jenin raid, and drew condemnation from Palestinian officials and rights groups; the same weekend the EU's Kaja Kallas separately condemned Israel's E1 settlement tender as a violation of international law.
