Settler Attack on Idhna Village, West Bank: Palestinian Beaten, Another Shot by IDF, Fields Set Ablaze
Israeli settlers attacked the Palestinian village of Idhna in the southern West Bank (Hebron governorate) on June 5, 2026. One Palestinian was beaten and injured in the assault; a second Palestinian was wounded by IDF gunfire when Israeli forces responded to the scene. Settlers also set fire to Palestinian-owned agricultural fields in the area. The Idhna attack follows a pattern of escalating settler violence across the West Bank in 2026 — including a fatal attack in Jaljilya on May 13, the three-day settler rampage in April that killed several Palestinians, and IDF Central Command Chief Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth's warning on May 1 that settler violence constitutes 'Jewish terror' that risks triggering a Palestinian uprising. OCHA has documented the 59 West Bank communities fully depopulated since October 2023, with ~2,000 additional people displaced in 2026. The Idhna attack continued the June 2026 pattern amid stalled Phase 2 negotiations and international diplomatic pressure over settlement expansion.
