Zaidi Pitches 'Invest With Iraq' Economic Vision at UN General Assembly

PM Ali al-Zaidi told the UN General Assembly on September 25: 'Here from the United Nations we say to the world: invest with Iraq. Iraq has resources, markets, a good location and the necessary will to build a new economy.' He said Iraq wants to develop energy links with Turkey, Jordan and Syria to help address the Strait of Hormuz bottleneck, and described efforts to strengthen Iraq's borders and expand state authority to prevent security vulnerabilities that extremist groups could exploit. Zaidi also called for a sovereign Palestinian state, saying there can be no regional stability without a just resolution, and positioned Iraq as a bridge for regional dialogue and cooperation.
