CENTCOM Destroys Five Iranian Oil Tankers After IRGC's Second Attempted Strike on US Warship in Two Days

| Iran Conflict

CENTCOM said US forces destroyed five Iranian crude oil carriers — M/T Kaviz, M/T Charminar, M/T Horizon 1, and M/T Riesco in the Gulf of Oman, and M/T Derya near Kharg Island — after the IRGC attempted to strike a US Navy warship with ballistic missiles for the second time in two days; the warship evaded both attempts and no American personnel were harmed. US forces directed the tankers' crews to abandon ship before rendering the vessels inoperable; no casualties were reported. CENTCOM described the ships as part of a 'multibillion-dollar shadow network' financing the IRGC. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said: 'Iran continues to try to hit US naval ships, and for every time they do that or try to do that, they're going to lose tankers.' Separately, a tanker was hit by an unknown projectile roughly 52km southeast of Al-Faw, Iraq (crew reported safe), and a vessel was reported listing off Port Rashid, Dubai, possibly from water ingress after an attack.
