Iran Signals Non-Hostile Vessels May Transit Hormuz Under Iranian Coordination
Iran's UN mission signaled that 'non-hostile vessels' may be allowed to transit the Strait of Hormuz if they coordinate with Iranian maritime authorities in advance. China, India, and Pakistan-flagged tankers have reportedly already been allowed selective passage. The signal caused a brief dip in oil prices. Analysts cautioned it did not represent a genuine reopening and that enforcement was selective and unpredictable. Iran's naval commanders reiterated that US and Israeli-affiliated vessels would still be denied passage.
