The Islamic Resistance in Iraq announced that Abu Ali al-Askari, security commander of Kata'ib Hezbollah and one of the most senior Iran-aligned militia commanders in Iraq, was killed in a US airstrike in Baghdad on March 14. The announcement came on March 17. Al-Askari, known for his prolific anti-US social media posts and operational role coordinating missile and drone attacks on US bases, was one of the most wanted Iran-linked commanders in the region.
