Separate Israel–Lebanon Ceasefire Track Forming; France Involved; No Date Set
A separate diplomatic track aimed at a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon/Hezbollah is forming, with France playing a lead mediating role. Israel has designated Ron Dermer to lead its side of any Lebanon-focused negotiations. The proposed framework would require Hezbollah to halt all rocket attacks on Israel and move forces north of the Litani River in exchange for a suspension of Israeli ground operations in southern Lebanon (where Israel's 91st Division has been operating since March 3). Lebanon's PM Nawaf Salam is supportive of a ceasefire but has limited control over Hezbollah. No negotiations date has been set, and Hezbollah has not responded to the framework.
