Iran Tells IAEA Safeguards 'Legally Untenable'

Iran informed the International Atomic Energy Agency in a letter dated February 2 that normal nuclear safeguards were 'legally untenable and materially impracticable,' citing threats and 'acts of aggression' following the June 2025 strikes. The letter effectively blocked IAEA access to key nuclear facilities including the Isfahan underground tunnel complex where Iran's 60%-enriched uranium stockpile is stored.
