Protests Spread to Multiple Cities Under #TataUlangIndonesia Banner; Protesters Meet VP Gibran

Student demonstrations organized under the #TataUlangIndonesia ('Reorganize Indonesia') banner spread beyond Jakarta to Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, Medan, and North and South Sumatra, demanding an end to costly flagship programs (the MBG free meals scheme and Red and White Cooperatives initiative), lower fuel prices, and rupiah-strengthening reforms. Police blockaded protesters from Universitas Bung Karno at Tugu Tani, though a delegation still met with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. In Yogyakarta, protesters stormed a Gadjah Mada University discussion hall. Organizers set a June 19 deadline for the government to respond, after which pro-government farmer groups staged counter-demonstrations in Jakarta.
