Cabinet Approves Two New Semiconductor Manufacturing Units Worth ₹3,936 Crore
The Union Cabinet approved two semiconductor manufacturing projects under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), with cumulative investment of approximately ₹3,936 crore (~$470 million). Crystal Matrix Limited will establish India's first commercial Mini/Micro-LED display facility using Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology at Dholera, Gujarat. Suchi Semicon Private Limited will set up an Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility in Surat capable of producing over 1,033 million discrete semiconductor chips annually. The two projects are expected to create 2,230 skilled jobs. Total approved projects under ISM reached 12, with cumulative investments of ₹1.64 lakh crore (~$19.7 billion), reflecting India's strategic push to reduce chip import dependency.
