'Vidhan Sabha Gherao' March Met With Tear Gas and Water Cannons

| India Youth Uprising

Thousands of job aspirants attempt to march roughly four kilometers to the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly in Ranchi on the protest's 17th day. More than 1,500 security personnel deploy barbed-wire barricades; police fire tear gas and water cannons and use batons after protesters break through several barricades near Jagannathpur Temple. Several protesters and at least four police personnel are injured. Devendra Nath Mahto, then nine days into his hunger strike, joins the march by ambulance. Hours later the state government offers a partial concession — cancelling the 14th JPSC preliminary exam and two backlog tests, with three JPSC board members resigning — but protesters reject this as insufficient absent a CBI probe and cancellation of the JSSC-CGL exam.
