India Tells Pakistan at UNHRC Geneva to Focus on Its Loans, Not 'Theatrics,' Cites 1990 Pandit Exodus and Minority Persecution

Exercising India's right of reply at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on September 24, 2026, Indian envoy Kshitij Tyagi dismissed Pakistan's remarks on Jammu and Kashmir as 'historical revisionism, invented statistics and sectarian insinuation,' asserting J&K 'was, is and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India' and that Pakistan should 'vacate' the parts of J&K it illegally occupies. Tyagi said neither territorial ambitions 'nor its theatrics in the Council' would help Pakistan 'repay the loans its economy survives on.' He cited the 1990 exodus of Kashmiri Pandits as the work of 'Pakistan-sponsored terrorists' and alleged systemic persecution of Pakistan's own minorities — Hindus, Sikhs and Christians whose populations have 'shrunk drastically since the formation of the country,' plus Shia, Ahmadiyya and Ismaili Muslims — including abduction and forced conversion of minority women and blasphemy-law intimidation.
