Pakistan Extends Airspace Ban on Indian Aircraft to October 24

The Pakistan Airports Authority issued a new Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) extending its closure of Pakistani airspace to Indian-registered aircraft — and planes owned, operated or leased by Indian airlines and operators, including military aircraft — from an earlier September 24 expiry to 4:59am on October 24, 2026. The extension took effect at 10:45am on Wednesday, September 17, and covers both of Pakistan's Flight Information Regions, Karachi (OPKR) and Lahore (OPLR). Pakistan and India imposed matching reciprocal airspace restrictions on each other's carriers after the April 2025 Pahalgam attack, and both sides have repeatedly rolled the bans forward in roughly month-long increments since; India's own ban on Pakistani aircraft has similarly been extended through successive NOTAMs. Neither government indicated any change in the underlying diplomatic posture accompanying this latest extension.
