Indian Intelligence Warns of Possible Pakistani 'LoC Misadventure' to Divert From PoK Unrest

Anonymous Indian Intelligence Bureau officials, cited in an IANS wire report published September 10, 2026 and syndicated across several Indian outlets, said Pakistan's military — facing a wave of unrest in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) that has paralysed Rawalakot, Bhimber, Mirpur, Neelum Valley and Muzaffarabad with sit-ins and strikes called by the banned Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) — may attempt a 'major misadventure' along the Line of Control to distract from the crisis. The officials said the diversion could take the form of a skirmish requiring an Indian military response, or a major infiltration push timed to coincide with one, and linked the assessment to Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir 'facing heat internally' over his handling of the PoK protests and violence in Balochistan. The same officials said the ISI has a 'desperate need... to recruit youth in J&K and get them to undertake acts of terror,' and that Indian security agencies are in a 'state of very high alert' along the LoC as a result. No actual LoC firing, infiltration attempt or other incident had occurred as of September 11, and neither Pakistan's government nor military issued any public response to the claims.
