Pakistan Extends Airspace Ban on Indian Aircraft Through September 24

The Pakistan Airports Authority issued a fresh NOTAM on August 19, 2026 extending its closure of Pakistani airspace to all India-registered aircraft — including commercial and military flights — through the Lahore and Karachi Flight Information Regions until 4:59am PST on September 24. It is the 16th consecutive extension of the ban Pakistan imposed on April 23, 2025 in response to India's suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty after the Pahalgam attack, with tensions compounding after India's May 6-7, 2025 strikes on Pakistani cities. India maintains a reciprocal ban on Pakistani aircraft in its own airspace.
