India Hosts BRICS Foreign Ministers' Summit in New Delhi — Jaishankar Chairs; Iran-UAE Crisis Dominates; No India-Pakistan Bilateral

India chaired the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Summit at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on May 13–15, 2026, with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar presiding. The two-day ministerial meeting — convening Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa and expanded BRICS+ members — was dominated by the Iran-UAE dispute and the broader US-Israel-Iran conflict situation, which overshadowed other agenda items. Pakistan is not a BRICS member; no India-Pakistan bilateral meeting took place on the sidelines. India's consistent diplomatic position — that bilateral talks with Pakistan are contingent on Islamabad dismantling cross-border terrorist infrastructure — remains fully in place. The summit underscored India's continued international diplomatic engagement and its role as a key multilateral convener, even as the bilateral relationship with Pakistan remains frozen across all channels. China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi also attended; China and India held a brief sideline exchange but no breakthrough on either the China-India border dossier or the India-Pakistan mediation track was reported.
