Operation Trashi-1: Two Terrorists Killed in Kishtwar Encounter, J&K
Indian security forces killed two militants in an encounter in Kishtwar district, Jammu & Kashmir, as part of Operation Trashi-1. The operation was a follow-on to intelligence developed in the broader sweep of counter-insurgency operations ongoing in the Jammu region. Kishtwar, in the Chenab Valley of the Jammu division, has seen a resurgence of militant activity in recent years with militants attempting to establish fresh footholds in the mountain terrain. Security forces including the Army and J&K Police Special Operations Group (SOG) cordoned the area after intelligence inputs and eliminated the two militants. The encounter came amid a wave of security operations in J&K following Operation Sindoor that have collectively maintained pressure on militant networks throughout the territory. The Jammu region's forests and mountain ranges have been a persistent infiltration corridor with an estimated 40–50 militants active in the region.
