ICE Arrests Man Near School Bus Stop in Croton-on-Hudson, NY, Drawing Mayor's Rebuke

| ICE

Federal immigration agents conducted an enforcement action on Brook Street in the Village of Croton-on-Hudson, New York at approximately 7:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026, taking one man into custody near a school bus stop on a school day. Village police had no advance knowledge of the operation and did not participate in it. Mayor Brian Pugh publicly criticized ICE, saying 'Conducting an ICE operation in the immediate vicinity of a school bus stop on the morning of a school day, without any advance notification to local officials or the school district, was unnecessarily disruptive to our community,' and the village notified the New York Attorney General's office via its Federal Action Reporting Form. Another Brook Street resident was taken into ICE custody in a separate April 2026 incident and remains held at the Delaney Hall detention facility in Newark, New Jersey.
