DHS Reports Weekend ICE Arrests of Human Traffickers, Rapists, and Kidnappers
The Department of Homeland Security issued a press release on April 20 reporting that ICE arrested criminal illegal aliens across the country over the weekend for offenses including sexual assault of a child, human trafficking for sexual servitude, sexual solicitation of a minor, rape, and kidnapping. Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis stated that 'ICE law enforcement never takes a day off — even on the weekends — from removing criminal illegal aliens from American communities.' Among those highlighted: Luzvin Garcia Moran, 28, a Guatemalan national arrested by Arlington County police on April 12 for attempted sexual assault and lodged with an ICE detainer; and Josue Abraham Chirino-Leonice, 19, a Venezuelan national arrested in Harris County, Texas for allegedly beating a coworker to death with a sledgehammer. The press releases form part of DHS's continuing 'Making America Safe Again' communications campaign, which is criticized by advocates for cherry-picking high-profile criminal cases while ICE data shows 70.8% of detainees have no criminal conviction.
