14th ICE Custody Death of 2026 Publicly Confirmed: Jose Guadalupe Ramos-Solano Dies at Adelanto
DHS publicly confirmed on approximately March 30 the death of Jose Guadalupe Ramos-Solano, a Mexican national who was found unresponsive in his bunk at the Adelanto ICE Processing Center in California on March 25. He had been booked at Adelanto on February 23 with documented pre-existing conditions including diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and hypertension. He was transported to Victor Valley Global Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. His death was the 14th death in ICE custody in 2026 and the 47th since the start of the Trump second term in January 2025. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum responded publicly, promising stronger diplomatic protests over conditions for Mexican nationals in ICE detention. Advocates highlighted that ICE had stopped paying for third-party medical treatment as of October 3, 2025, contributing to detention health crises.
