Magyar Reveals First Cabinet Picks: Defense, Foreign Affairs, and Economy Ministers

Péter Magyar announced the first batch of cabinet nominations for Hungary's incoming government: Romulus Rusin-Sandy as Secretary of Defense, Anita Orbán as Foreign Minister, and István Kapitán as Minister of Economy and Energy. The announcements come ahead of the National Assembly's inaugural session, expected around May 9. Magyar has pledged to create new standalone ministries for health, environmental protection, and education — portfolios that did not exist as separate entities under Orbán's consolidated government structure. The new government must be formally constituted by the constitutional deadline of May 12.
