Tisza Wins 29.6% in EP Elections — Fidesz Posts Worst Result in 18 Years

| Hungary

On June 9, 2024, in European Parliament elections, Fidesz-KDNP won 44.8% of the vote and 11 MEPs — its lowest share since 2006, an 11-point drop from its 2022 general election performance. Péter Magyar's Tisza Párt, formed only four months earlier, won 29.6% and 7 MEPs — an extraordinary debut for a brand-new party. Smaller opposition parties failed to reach the 5% threshold, consolidating the political landscape into a two-party race ahead of the 2026 national election. The result put Tisza on a credible path to government.
