GSF Commander Batsuuri Visits Artibonite to Assess Sri Lankan Contingent Operations

Major General Erdenebat Batsuuri, Force Commander of the UN-backed Gang Suppression Force, visited Artibonite department on August 13, 2026 to evaluate the newly landed Sri Lankan contingent's operations in Gonaïves, one week after its August 6 arrival. Batsuuri met with the Sri Lankan contingent commander and local officials — including the vice departmental delegate, the Mayor of Gonaïves, and the Bishop of Gonaïves — to discuss the security situation, operational coordination, and community relations in a department that has recorded 381 killings (25.7% of Haiti's 2026 national total) amid expanding Gran Grif and Kokorat San Ras gang activity.
