AfD Hits Record 30% in GMS Nationwide Poll, 10 Points Ahead of CDU/CSU

The GMS Institute's 'Sunday question' poll, published September 15 (fieldwork September 9–14, 1,009 respondents by phone and online panel), put the AfD at a record 30% nationally — up 2 points since late July — with the CDU/CSU falling 3 points to 20%, its lowest recorded GMS result. The Greens rose to 14% (+1), the Left to 11% (+1), the SPD held at 11%, the FDP fell to 4% (-1) and the BSW rose to 3% (+1), with the Free Voters at 1%. The poll landed five days before the Berlin and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state elections and confirmed the national swing seen after the AfD's September 6 Saxony-Anhalt landslide; the sitting SPD/CDU coalition would not command a Bundestag majority if the poll were an election result.
