Germany Boosts Ebola Aid to Democratic Republic of Congo by €11 Million

| Germany

Development Minister Reem Alabali-Radovan announced on August 18 that Germany is increasing its support for the Ebola response in the Democratic Republic of Congo by €11 million ($12.7 million), confirmed to dpa by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Alabali-Radovan called the outbreak 'the worst Ebola outbreak in the country's history,' noting that ongoing armed conflict in eastern DRC is hampering healthcare workers' ability to reach infected populations. The additional German funding supports equipment provision, mobile laboratories, and training for healthcare workers, adding to Germany's existing Ebola-response commitments.
