Investigators Question Garibashvili at Rustavi Prison Over Jorbenadze Death Claims

| Georgia Crisis

Prosecutors summoned imprisoned former PM Irakli Garibashvili to Prison No. 12 in Rustavi to question him about his Sep 1 letter alleging unanswered questions in the April 2026 death of rights defender Lazare Jorbenadze. Prosecutor Medea Tsiramua said Garibashvili told investigators he had no direct information and had relied on circulating rumors; the Prosecutor's Office maintains its own investigation confirmed suicide and said several other public figures who commented on the case would also be questioned.
