TAE Technologies and UKAEA Formally Launch TAE Beam UK Joint Venture at Culham
On May 14, 2026, TAE Technologies and the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) formally established TAE Beam UK — a joint venture based at the Culham Campus in Oxfordshire. UKAEA invested £5.6 million. The JV commercializes neutral beam injection and particle accelerator technologies originally developed for fusion research, targeting non-fusion application markets including food safety inspection, homeland security, and cancer therapy. The partnership converts a 2025 strategic collaboration into a fully funded operational commercial entity, with the dual goal of generating near-term revenue and advancing neutral beam technology critical for ITER and future fusion power plants. TAE Technologies, which has raised over $1.3 billion for its hydrogen-boron aneutronic fusion approach, positions the JV as a revenue bridge while its core fusion programme matures.
