TEPCO Completes FY2026 First Round of ALPS-Treated Water Ocean Discharge

TEPCO completed the first round of treated water ocean discharge for fiscal year 2026 on approximately April 20, 2026. The FY2026 program calls for 8 rounds totaling approximately 62,400 tonnes (an increase from 7 rounds in FY2025), with an estimated 11 trillion becquerels of tritium total. Cumulative discharge since August 24, 2023 has now exceeded 133,000 m³ across 19 batches. IAEA monitoring continues to confirm tritium and other radioactivity levels are well within international safety standards at the discharge point and in surrounding ocean waters.
