Egypt Posts Record Q1 2026 Tourism Revenue of $5.1 Billion, Up 34%
Egypt's tourism sector recorded its strongest-ever first quarter in 2026, welcoming 5.6 million visitors — a 43% year-on-year surge — and generating $5.1 billion in revenues, up 34% from $3.8 billion in Q1 2025. Officials attributed the surge partly to the Grand Egyptian Museum's full opening adjacent to the Giza pyramids and robust European and Gulf arrivals. A 16% year-on-year decline was noted in April arrivals as regional geopolitical instability linked to the Iran conflict dampened sentiment; Egypt is targeting 21 million annual arrivals for the full year.
