The ongoing DRC Bundibugyo Ebola epidemic reached a significant milestone, surpassing 8,700 total confirmed cases and 4,200 deaths as transmission continues to expand across eastern provinces. The latest figures represent an increase of roughly 35 cases and 22 deaths since the 7 October report, which recorded 8,665 DRC cases and 4,178 deaths. The outbreak remains the largest Ebola event in DRC history and the second-largest ever recorded worldwide.
