DRC Ebola Toll Rises to 7,200 Cases, 3,475 Deaths as Contact Tracing Climbs to 88%

A DRC situation update published Sunday, 13 September 2026, with data through 12 September, put the national toll at 7,200 confirmed cases and 3,475 deaths — up from 7,022 cases and 3,398 deaths in the prior (10 September) report. The update also recorded 923 patients currently hospitalized in isolation and 1,712 cumulative recoveries, for a crude case fatality rate of roughly 48.3%. National contact-tracing coverage rose to 88% of identified contacts, up from 84.4% on 9 September, reversing the prior report's decline. The outbreak now spans 62 of 167 health zones across the seven affected provinces: Ituri (28 of 36 zones), North Kivu (16 of 34), Tshopo (7 of 23), Haut-Uélé (6 of 13), Bas-Uélé (3 of 11), South Kivu (1 of 34) and the newly affected Sud-Ubangi (1 of 16), which recorded its first case on 9 September.
