As of 3 June 2026, DRC Ministry of Health confirmed 363 total lab-confirmed Bundibugyo virus (BDBV) disease cases — a 42-case increase from the 321 confirmed as of June 2. Critically, Ituri Province has now expanded to 17 active health zones with 341 confirmed cases, up from 299 cases in 15 health zones on June 2, indicating sustained and widening geographic spread within the province. Nord-Kivu remained at 19 confirmed cases from 7 health zones; Sud-Kivu remained at 3 confirmed cases from 1 health zone. Confirmed DRC deaths rose to 62 — a 14-death increase from 48 on June 2. The latest 24-hour reporting window showed 19 new confirmed cases and 2 new deaths. 206 patients were currently hospitalized in isolation across DRC treatment centers. Suspected cases remained at approximately 116 under active investigation as mobile BSL-3 laboratory throughput continued. Uganda confirmed cases held at 15 (8 Kampala + 1 Wakiso district) with 1 confirmed death. Combined global total as of June 3: 378 confirmed cases (363 DRC + 15 Uganda) and 63 confirmed deaths (62 DRC + 1 Uganda). Contact tracing coverage in DRC remained at approximately 45%, well below the 90% threshold required for containment, with community resistance and armed group activity continuing to restrict access in approximately 23% of the Ituri outbreak zone.
