Amazon Leo Surpasses 375 Satellites, Enough for Initial Commercial Service in 2026

A United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket launched 29 more Amazon Leo satellites from Florida on July 2, 2026 — the constellation's 14th mission — bringing the total in orbit to more than 375, the third-largest constellation currently flying. Amazon said it now has enough satellites in orbit to begin 'initial service' of its Leo internet-from-space network later in 2026. Under its FCC license, Amazon must launch half of its first-generation constellation by July 30, 2026, though the FCC waived that deadline in June 2026 following an Amazon request for an extension. Amazon Leo (formerly Project Kuiper) is already running enterprise beta service with carrier partners including Verizon, AT&T, Vodafone, and Vodacom.
