US: National Digital Inclusion Alliance Launches DEA Month of Action Marking One Year Since Digital Equity Act Cancellation

The National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA) launched its 'DEA Month of Action' on May 8 (running through June 8, 2026), marking the one-year anniversary of President Trump's cancellation of the $2.75 billion Digital Equity Act via social media post. The campaign aims to raise awareness of the program's cancellation, lobby Congress to restore digital equity funding in the FY2027 budget, and highlight impacts on libraries, community organizations, and low-income households that had relied on state Digital Equity Act allocations. A virtual press conference with Members of Congress and civil society leaders followed the May 8 launch. The Digital Equity Act had been designed to fund state digital inclusion plans, affordability programs, and digital literacy training for millions of underconnected Americans.
