Ovidio Guzmán's Sentencing Hearing Postponed to July 27, After El Mayo's Sentencing
Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman postponed Ovidio Guzmán López's Chicago sentencing hearing — previously set for July 10, 2026 — to July 27, 2026, so the court can fully review U.S. prosecutors' reports on his cooperation. The new date was deliberately set one week after El Mayo Zambada's July 20, 2026 sentencing in Brooklyn, allowing the court to weigh how that case resolves before addressing Ovidio's. It is at least the fourth postponement of Ovidio's sentencing since his July 2025 guilty plea. Under his plea deal, Ovidio agreed to forfeit $80 million; the extent of any sentence reduction for cooperation remains undetermined.
