Full US Trade Embargo Imposed

President Kennedy signed Proclamation 3447, imposing a comprehensive embargo on all trade with Cuba under the Foreign Assistance Act and Trading with the Enemy Act. The embargo prohibited virtually all US exports to Cuba and cut the island off from the US market, which had previously absorbed 67% of Cuban exports.
