Allotera Therapeutics (formerly Wugen) Raises $35M to Advance CRISPR-Edited Off-the-Shelf CAR-T

Allotera Therapeutics — rebranded from Wugen — closed a $35 million extension of its Series C financing (bringing the round total to $150 million), primarily to support the ongoing global pivotal T-RRex trial of soficabtagene geleucel (sofi-cel), an allogeneic, healthy-donor-derived CAR-T therapy that uses CRISPR-Cas9 to delete CD7 and TRAC for relapsed or refractory T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia and T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma. Sofi-cel holds FDA Breakthrough Therapy, RMAT, Fast Track, Orphan Drug, and Rare Pediatric Disease designations, plus EU PRIME designation.
