Scientists Identify 'LC-Mo' Immune Cell Linked to Long COVID Fatigue

| COVID-19

Researchers at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research published findings in Nature Immunology identifying a distinct immune cell state — CD14+ monocytes called 'LC-Mo' — associated with Long COVID fatigue, brain fog, and respiratory symptoms. The cells display persistent immune dysregulation in patients who experienced initially mild-to-moderate COVID-19 infections, offering a potential biological mechanism for why millions continue to suffer long after acute illness resolves. The finding could guide development of targeted immunomodulatory therapies for Long COVID.
