The U.S. FDA grants Emergency Use Authorization for the Pfizer/BioNTech mRNA vaccine — the first COVID vaccine authorized in the U.S. On December 14, nurse Sandra Lindsay becomes the first American vaccinated outside a trial. Moderna's EUA follows on December 18.
