Petro Alleges Election Fraud, Accuses Israel and US of Interference
Outgoing President Gustavo Petro refused to recognize the June 21 runoff result, alleging systematic tampering with Form E-14 tally sheets and claiming Israel had compromised National Registry servers used by electoral logistics firm Thomas Greg & Sons — telling reporters 'the only entity in the world capable of doing that is the state of Israel.' Petro invited US President Trump to mediate the dispute. Attorney General Gregorio Eljach dismissed the claims, stating there was 'no evidence of fraud' with 99% of votes counted. De la Espriella, a pro-Israel candidate who pledged to reverse Petro's 2024 rupture of diplomatic ties with Israel, received a congratulatory message from Israeli PM Netanyahu.
