Hong Kong Rejects US Downgrade to Lowest Tier in Human Trafficking Report

Hong Kong authorities rejected the US State Department's downgrade of the territory to the lowest tier (Tier 3) in its annual Trafficking in Persons report, calling the move politically motivated. The US designation places Hong Kong among countries deemed to not fully meet minimum standards for eliminating human trafficking and not making significant efforts to do so.
